Provides support services and interventions to individuals, children and families residing in the Greater Newburyport Community including food pantry, emergency assistance support, meal delivery, SNAP applications, MassHealth assistance, crisis intervention, Operation Backpack (providing backpacks and school supplies to children) and school and community education programs. Senior support; substance addiction and mental health initiatives. To become a client of the Pettengill House, you must provide picture ID, proof of address, and fill out intake application to identify services needed. Service areas: Amesbury, Byfield, Groveland, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury and West Newbury.​

Thom Child and Family Services works with over 10,000 infants, toddlers, and families throughout Massachusetts – providing critical Early Intervention and related services. Our dedicated occupational and physical therapists, social workers, nurses, speech-language pathologists, educators, counselors and other specialists are committed to working collaboratively with families, child care providers, and other professionals to facilitate each individual child’s development.

Serving: Amesbury, Boxford, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury, and West Newbury: Amesbury/Newburyport Seacoast Center. Head Start provides quality early education programming and comprehensive services to pregnant women and families with children between the ages of 0-5. There is no cost to participate, although there may be voucher related fees for children enrolled in full-time classrooms. Children who are income eligible are prioritized for enrollment. Meals are provided for all center-based children and limited transportation is available for those who qualify.

Jeanne Geiger offers free, comprehensive services that support adult and child survivors as they heal from the trauma of domestic abuse; programs in schools that teach students how to lead conversations about healthy relationships, recognize signs of an abusive relationship, and become empowered to make positive and healthy decisions; tools and strategies to reduce domestic violence homicides; a 40-week program certified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for people who use violence in an intimate relationship.​

Provides transitional aid to pregnant women and families with children (TANF/cash benefits), Emergency Assistance for Elderly, Disabled or Children (EAEDC), SNAP/Food Stamps. DHCD administers emergency housing at the DTA office. Families receiving cash benefits may be eligible to receive childcare vouchers. You can call this line anytime, to determine your current case status and benefits, update your contact information, request Income Verification Letters, and find out the date of your next SNAP re-certification.
