Guidelines for the Salisbury Community Garden 2024
Parking - A few parking spots are provided in front of the garden.
I understand that neither the garden group nor owners of the land are responsible for my actions. I THEREFORE AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS THE GARDEN GROUP AND OWNERS OF THE LAND FOR ANY LIABILITY, DAMAGE, LOSS OR CLAIM THAT OCCURS IN CONNECTION WITH USE OF THE GARDEN BY ME OR ANY OF MY GUESTS.
- I will pay the fee to help cover garden expenses, including water. This fee is non-refundable.
- The fees vary according to plot size: 30’ x 15’=$40; 15’ x 15’=$30; 4’ x 12’ raised bed=$30.
- There is also an additional, refundable $75.00 abandonment fee.
- This fee will be utilized in the case of gardeners abandoning their space during the season and not clearing the space first, as required. If a gardener chooses to not return the next year and cleans out their garden space, this $75 fee will be returned. If a gardener does return from year to year, the fee will roll over
- I will not plant invasive, illegal or poisonous plant species.
- The gardener must be present when watering. Do not leave the water unattended. Sprinklers are not allowed. All hoses must be returned as found.
- If you must abandon the plot, please notify the Salisbury Parks & Rec / Community Garden Committee.
- Kids are a wonderful addition to the garden and we encourage them. However, supervision is required at all times.
- No littering or dumping. Salisbury Community Gardens are a carry in and carry out facility-trash free.
- Harvest only from your plot.
- Gardens must be kept relatively free of weeds and weedy vines; this includes the walk adjacent to your plot as well as fences.
- Gardeners should visit and maintain their plots at least once a week, or arrange for another gardener or friend to oversee their plot when they are out of town or on vacation.
- Plots are non-transferable.
- Permanent structures are prohibited.
- Gardens are open dawn to dusk, seven days a week.
- No unauthorized expansion of your plot or encroaching on other plots.
- Plots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Salisbury residents and existing gardeners will be given first priority, but the Salisbury Community Garden is also available to residents of other communities.
- If plots become neglected, you will be given 2 weeks’ notice to clean it up. At that time, it will be reassigned or tilled in
- Only Community Garden board approved fertilizers, pesticides or weed repellents are allowed.
- Pets are not permitted
- Smoking is not permitted
